HC Deb 21 March 1899 vol 68 c1574
SIR H. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN (Stirling Burghs)

I venture to ask the right honourable Gentleman when he proposes to take the Scotch Private Bill Procedure Bill, and to express the hope that it will not be either immediately before or immediately after the Recess. That would be very inconvenient to Scotch Members, who have a long journey to take at this inclement season of the year.

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

I recently suggested, as the House will remember, that that Bill might be taken on Tuesday before we separate, but I am quite ready to meet the right honourable Gentleman so far as to put it down on Monday. I would endeavour to meet the general views of the House by putting down nothing for Tuesday, except the Motion for the Adjournment, and I shall take the Question that the Speaker do leave the Chair on the Civil Service Estimates either on the first Monday or the first Friday after we meet.
