HC Deb 16 March 1899 vol 68 c971
MR. FFRENCH

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that there are over 100 appeal cases on the Ely estate and other estates in the south of the county Wexford which have been pending for the last three months; whether he will inquire about what time the Land Commission will fix a sitting especially to hear those cases; and if the sitting will be held in New Ross or Waterford in order to prevent the expense and inconvenience of going to Dublin, especially as the tenants may be delayed three or four days for the hearing of their cases?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

There are at present 111 fair rent appeals pending from the Unions of New Ross and Wexford, which represent the southern portion of the county Wexford. No arrangements have as yet been made for a sitting of the Land Commission for the hearing of these cases. The sitting, when arranged for, will probably be held In the town of Wexford, but nothing definite has as yet been settled.
