§ MR. DILLONI beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether Chinese subjects are being enlisted in the British Service at Wei-hai- 955 Wei; and, if so, whether such a proceeding is legal?
§ MR. BRODRICKA battalion of Chinese is being enlisted at Wei-hai-Wei for the British service. As regards the legality of this step Her Majesty's Government are not aware of any legal objection to the voluntary enlistment of the subjects of a foreign Power.
