HC Deb 13 March 1899 vol 68 c536
COLONEL SIR HOWARD VINCENT (Sheffield, Central)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury if he can say when the Bill announced in Her Majesty's Most Gracious Speech, for enabling local authorities to assist the occupiers of small dwellings in the purchase of their houses, will be introduced by Her Majesty's Government?

THE FIRST LORD OP THE TREASURY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR, Manchester, E.)

My honourable Friend will see by the Paper that my right honourable Friend the Secretary for the Colonies proposes to introduce the Bill on Tuesday.

SIR H. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN (Stirling Burghs)

May I ask the right honourable Gentleman if we are to understand that it is seriously intended that this Bill, which must be one of the most important Bills of the Session, is to be introduced under such circumstances that there cannot be a discussion upon it?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

The Bill is an important one, but I should not think that it will be a very controversial one, and I am not aware that there is any reason why it should not be introduced under the Ten Minutes Rule.
