§ MR. A. MOORE (Londonderry)I beg to ask the President of the Board of Agriculture what knowledge, if any, the Board of Agriculture has of the registration of margarine factories; whether the local authorities are the bodies charged with the duty of registering margarine factories: and whether they are bound to communicate the names of factories so registered to any department of Government: and, if not, whether he will 530 provide for this contingency in the Bill at present before Parliament for the Sale of Food and Drugs?
§ THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF AGRICULTURE (Mr. W. H. LONG,) Liverpool, West DerbyAs my honourable Friend is aware, section 9 of the Margarine Act provides for the registration of margarine manufactories with the local authority, and sub-section (4) of clause 7 of the Sale of Food and Drugs Bill requires the local authority to notify such registration to the Board of Agriculture. We shall therefore, I think, have no difficulty in obtaining the information we require for the exercise of the powers proposed to be conferred upon us by the clause in question.
§ THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF AGRICULTUREThat I cannot say.
