HC Deb 16 June 1899 vol 72 c1337
MR. SCHWANN (Manchester, N.)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has seen a telegram from Vienna, dated Sunday last, in which it was stated that the Russian and French Ambassadors have raised a protest against the Kurdish atrocities in Armenia, which are increasing every day, their Excellencies demand energetic measures, otherwise Turkey will be held responsible for the consequences; and, in the affirmative case, will the British Ambassador at Constantinople be instructed to support their remonstrances and representations to the Porte.

*THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (MR. BRODRICK,) Surrey, Guildford

No information to this effect has reached Her Majesty's Government, but Her Majesty's Ambassador is furnished with instructions which would enable him to join in any well-founded representations on the subject.
