HC Deb 16 June 1899 vol 72 cc1336-7
MR. HERBERT ROBERTS

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether he will state whether the Select Committee of the Bengal Legislative Council have submitted their Report upon the Calcutta Municipal Bill; and, if so, whether any alteration has been made in Section 8 of the Bill, which reduces the representatives of the town to a minority of four in the proposed Executive Committee of twelve; and, whether he will state what course he intends to adopt with respect to the measure.

LORD G. HAMILTON

No report on the subject has yet reached me, and until I receive the report and the views of the Government of India upon the subject I cannot state what course may be taken.
