HC Deb 09 June 1899 vol 72 c771
CAPTAIN DONELAN (Cork, E.)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that, in consequence of a recent breach in the sea embankment, the rifle range at Youghal, county Cork, has become flooded and practically useless; and whether the War Office will consider the desirability of co-operating with the local authorities and with the Great Southern and Western Railway Company, with a view to the execution of the necessary repairs.

*THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (MR. G. WYNDHAM, Dover)

It is a fact that the range cannot he used until the breach in the sea wall is repaired. Several authorities are interested in these repairs, which have already been attempted, but without success. A further report on the circumstances will he called for.

CAPTAIN DONELAN

Will the Department be prepared to make any contribution towards the cost of carrying out these repairs?

*MR. WYNDHAM

That is the very question which will he decided when we have the report. Several authorities are interested, and the allocation of the responsibility on each is a matter which will occupy our minds.
