HC Deb 24 February 1899 vol 67 c443
CAPTAIN DONELAN (Cork, E.)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that Colour-Sergeant Wooldridge, 1st Battalion Oxfordshire Light Infantry, was recently tried by court-martial, at Mullingar, for embezzling £28 belonging to the regiment, and for neglect of duty, the prisoner's defence to both charges being that his quarters were broken into and the money stolen; whether he can state the grounds on which Wooldridge, although acquitted on the charge of embezzlement, was found guilty of neglect of duty and reduced to the ranks; and whether inquiries will be made with the view to a revision of the decision arrived at?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. G. WYNDHAM,) Dover

The proceedings of the court-martial have not yet been received. They have been, sent for; and, on their receipt, they will be reviewed in ordinary course.
