HC Deb 10 February 1899 vol 66 c663
MR. JAMES O'CONNOE (Wicklow, W.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, whether he is aware that several tenants residing in Donard and Kil-baylet, West Wicklow, more than two years ago lodged notices to have fair rents fixed; and that the cases are still unheard by the Sub-Commissioners; and can he explain what is the cause of the long delay, and when the cases are likely to be dealt with?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY TO THE LORD LIEUTENANT OF IRELAND (Mr. GERALD W. BALFOUR,) Leeds, Central

There are no applications to fix fair rents from the district mentioned in the first paragraph pending for so long a period as that stated. There are only four cases not yet listed for hearing from this district, and the applications in these cases were received by the Land Commission between the 23rd June and 9th November 1897. They will appear on the next list for the district, but no definite date has yet been fixed for the next sitting of a Sub-Commission for the district.
