HC Deb 18 April 1899 vol 69 cc1454-5
MR. MARKS (Tower Hamlets, St. George's)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any communications have passed between Her Majesty's Government and the Austro-Hungarian Government with reference to the imposition of countervailing duties upon foreign bounty-fed sugar imported into India; and, if so, what has been the result of such communications?

MR. BRODRICK

Communications on this subject are passing between the two Governments, but they are not as yet sufficiently advanced to enable me to make any statement with regard to them.
