HC Deb 09 May 1898 vol 57 cc683-4
MR. O'NEILL (Antrim, Mid)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if under the Local Government Bill jurors residing in the county of Antrim outside the borough of Belfast will be required to attend to business only connected with the county, and not as heretofore to attend to business connected with the county and borough of Belfast jointly?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

Under Clause 45 of the Bill, the administrative county will be the county for all purposes, including jurors; therefore jurors residing in Antrim, outside Belfast, will not be required to attend to business connected with Belfast. This provision is subject to the transitory provision in Clause 76, that the jurors will not be affected by any change of boundaries until the jurors lists revised in 1899 come into operation.
