§ SIR WILLIAM ARROL (Ayrshire, S.)
I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury when it is his intention to move the appointment of the Select Committee on the Private Bill Procedure (Scotland) Bill; and if the Committee will commence its sittings on an early day?
§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY
This Committee has been moved by my right honourable Friend the Lord Advocate on several occasions, but objec- 425 tion has hitherto always been taken by honourable Gentlemen opposite.
In reply to a further Question, the right honourable Gentleman said: I think it most desirable that this Committee should be appointed, and I cannot think the objection to it is likely to be enduring. I trust that, without interrupting the ordinary course of business, the House may be able to appoint the Committee.
