HC Deb 31 March 1898 vol 55 c1485
MR. J. TULLY (Leitrim, S.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that, under the present provisions of the Registration Law, only three days (which often include Sunday) are given for the printing of the lists of objections to the parliamentary registers; and whether, under the Orders of Council regulating the printing of the new registers under the Registration (Ireland) Bill, steps will be taken to remedy this matter?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

I am informed that the period now allowed is considered sufficient. The provisions of the Registration Act do not furnish any reason for the proposed alteration, and I am advised that the Act does not empower the Lord Lieutenant to make it.
