HC Deb 04 March 1898 vol 54 c621
MR. VESEY KNOX

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland (1) whether he will have proposed Orders in Council under the Irish Local Government Bill printed and distributed at as early a date as possible; and (2) whether he will have the various enactments, mentioned in the Schedules of the Bill, printed as a Parliamentary Paper?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

The draft Orders in Council are being prepared, and I hope they will be in the hands of Members at the Committee stage of the Bill. If the suggestion in the second paragraph were acceded to, I am afraid it would involve the printing of a couple of large volumes, and this I could not recommend. Of course, the material portions of the enactments mentioned in the 4th Schedule, which are being applied to Ireland, will be set out in full in the draft Orders in Council.
