§ SIR R. REID (Dumfries Burghs)I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether, under the existing law, it is competent to dissolve a poor-house combination and sell the poor-house in cases where all or the majority of those concerned desire it; and if it is not possible under existing law, if he will consider the propriety of providing for such cases in the Bill now before the House?
§ THE LORD ADVOCATEUnder the existing law there is no power to dissolve a poor-house combination, and even assuming the propriety of such dissolution, it seems to be outside the scope of the Bill in question, which deals with settlement and removal only.
