HC Deb 07 June 1898 vol 58 c856
MR. CARVELL WILLIAMS (Notts,) Mansfield

I beg to ask the Vice-President of the Committee of Council on Education whether, on further inquiry, it has been ascertained that there was submitted to the Departmental Committee on the pupil teacher system a list by the Rev. J. Scott Lidgett of cases of refusal to admit Wesleyan Methodists or other Nonconformists to Church of England schools and training colleges, as pupil teachers or as students; and whether he will lay the same upon the Table of the House?

THE VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE COMMITTEE OF COUNCIL ON EDUCATION (Sir J. GOBST, Cambridge University)

No list of cases was submitted by the Rev. Scott Lidgett to the Departmental Committee, but a general statement, which was considered by the Committee, but which they did not see fit to print. The answer to the second paragraph is in the negative.
