HC Deb 07 June 1898 vol 58 cc856-7
DR. FARQUHARSON (Aberdeenshire, W.)

On behalf of the honourable Member for Caithness, I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade if he can state when the new line from Aviemore to Inverness of the Highland Railway Company is to be opened for passenger traffic; and is he aware that the line has been practically finished for two or three months?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE (Mr. C. T. RITCHIE,) Croydon

I am informed by the Highland Company that the line is already open for traffic from Aviemore Junction to Daviot Station, a distance of 23 miles 61 chains, and that the directors hope the extension from Duviot to Inverness will be ready for opening about the end of August.
