WILSON (York, W.R., Holmfirth)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether his attention has been directed to a statement in reference to venereal disease, in Dr. Cleghorn's Report on the Health of the Army in India, during the year 1896, that no mechanical or enforced organisation will do good short of such moral influence on the men, as the highest military authorities promised to encouraae; and whether he will lay a copy of that Report on the Table?

HAMILTON,) Middlesex, EalingI presume the honourable Member refers to the annual Report for 1896, of the Sanitary Commissioner with the Government of India (Surgeon-Major-General Cleghorn), which, however, contains no statement to the effect described in his Question. An abstract of the Report will be included, as usual, in the "Report on Sanitary Measures in India in 1896–97," which will be presented to Parliament in due course.
