POWER (Waterford, E.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether, since provision is made in Great Britain for the admission and care of private patients in public lunatic asylums, he will extend in the Local Government Bill or by other legislation this useful provision to Ireland?
§ MR. GERALD BALFOURBy an Amendment to section 9, sub-section 6, of the Local Government Bill, introduced in Committee, power is given to county councils through the Asylums Committee to make regulations respecting the conditions as to payment and accommodation under which private patients may be admitted and detained in the asylum.
