HC Deb 14 July 1898 vol 61 c956
COLONEL DENNY (Kilmarnock Burghs)

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate, in the event of a check-weigher at a colliery being injured while in the course of his employment, from whom would he claim compensation, seeing he is an employee of the men and not of the colliery owner?

THE LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. GRAHAM MURRAY,) Buteshire

I fear I must decline to give my honourable Friend a legal opinion upon a hypothetical case in reply to a Question in this House. If the case arises in practice the point must be settled in the law courts.
