HC Deb 01 July 1898 vol 60 c795
MR. DAVITT

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can now state the names of the members of the Commission appointed to settle matters of dispute pending between the United States and Canada, and lay upon the Table of the House the terms of the said Commission; and whether the draft of the Commission has yet been submitted for approval to the United States Senate?

MR. CURZON

The names of the members of the Commission appointed by the Queen were notified in the Press yesterday. According to the latest information received from Her Majesty's Ambassador at Washington, the names of the American members have not yet been finally settled. As regards the draft of the Commission, the honourable Member probably refers to the protocol which was signed at Washington on the 30th of May, providing for the appointment of the Joint Commission. We have no information as regards its submission to the Senate. There will probably be no objection to its presentation to Parliament with other Papers, in due course.
