§ MR. DILLONI have just received a telegram from Westport, county Mayo, 1000 stating that a meeting in connection with the distress in that district has been dispersed to-day by a large force of police, under a district inspector of police, without notice or proclamation. I shall be glad if the right hon. Gentleman the Chief Secretary can give any information to the House in reference to this subject.
§ THE CHIEF SECRETARY FOR IRELANDI have not received any information on the matter. I had a telegram from Westport to-day at two o'clock, and up to that time no disturbance appears to have occurred. If the hon. Gentleman will repeat his question to-morrow I hope to be able to give him, some information.
