HC Deb 11 August 1898 vol 64 cc898-9
MR. COHEN (Islington, E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether he can state if the Report of the Royal Commission on Indian Expenditure, appointed in May, 1895, will be presented to Parliament before the opening of the next Session of Parliament?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (Lord G. HAMILTON, Middlesex, Ealing)

I have no authority whatever over the Commission. I understand that they adjourned a year ago, in order that the Chairman might prepare and circulate his Report for the consideration of his colleagues, and I am informed that up to now no Report has been circulated.
