HC Deb 29 April 1898 vol 56 c1523
MR. ENGLEDEW

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Government have yet decided what will be done with the saving effected owing to the reduction in the number of judges on the Irish Bench and in the strength of the Royal Irish Constabulary?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

Any savings effected consequent on reductions in the strength of the Royal Irish Constabulary will be surrendered to the Exchequer. It has not yet been decided what will be done with the savings effected under the Judicature Act of last year.
