HC Deb 21 April 1898 vol 56 cc637-8
MAJOR RASCH

I beg to ask the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether his attention has been called to the poisoning of certain soldiers by vinegar said to have been adulterated with arsenic at Gosport; and whether he can say if the article was of foreign manufacture; and, if not, if he will give the name of the contractor?

THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY TO THE WAR OFFICE (Mr. J. POWELL WILLIAMS,) Birmingham, S.

The inquiry to which I referred in my reply to my hon. and gallant Friend's Question of the 8th March has taken place, but it has shown that a further investigation is desirable, and I do not think it advisable at the present moment to make any detailed statement respecting it.
