HC Deb 21 April 1898 vol 56 c637
MAJOR F. C. RASCH (Essex, S.E.)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been called to the Resolution passed by the Central Chamber on 5th April with reference to the importation of chemically-treated French milk; and whether he proposes to take any steps to exclude it?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD

My attention has been called to the Resolution referred to. The Local Government Board have no power to prohibit the importation into this country of milk, or any other article of food or drink, and I have not at present the information which would justify me in taking such action, if it is in my power. I shall be very glad, however, to receive any information on the subject with which the hon. Member can supply me, and to consider it.
