HC Deb 04 April 1898 vol 56 c38
MR. P. O'BRIEN

On behalf of the hon. Member for the Northern Division of Dublin County, I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Local Government Bill provides for the future disbursement of the Probate Duty grant; if so, by what section; and, if not, whether it is intended to supply in Committee on the Bill this omission, and in doing so to take care that urban as well as rural localities will continue to share in the grant referred to?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

I have already more than once stated that the Local Government Bill does not interfere with the grant provided for by the Probate Duties Act of 1888, and that this grant will continue to be distributed on the same basis as heretofore.
