HC Deb 10 May 1897 vol 49 c119
MR. JOHN MORLEY (Montrose Burghs)

I should like to be allowed to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether he is in a position to make any statement to the House as to any communications that may have passed between the Greek Government and the Powers?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

No, Sir. As, I think, the right hon. Gentleman will readily be in a position to conjecture, it would not be expedient while negotiations are pending to make any statement.

MR. MORLEY

May we suppose from that that negotiations are pending?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

Yes, Sir that is so.
