HC Deb 10 May 1897 vol 49 cc118-9
MR. D. H. COGHILL (Stoke-upon-Trent)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether, in view of the advanced state of the Government business, he will be able, this Session, to bring in a Bill to provide a pension fund for teachers?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

In view of the large amount of time which has already been occupied during the present Session by subjects connected with elementary education, I cannot hold out any very sanguine hope to my hon. Friend that this question, the great importance of which the Government fully recognise, can be adequately dealt with this year.
