§ CAPTAIN DONELAN (Cork, E.)
I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty if he can state the cause of the recent explosion on board the guard-ship at Queenstown; and, whether the injured men are progressing favourably?
§ MR. MACARTNEY
No information has been received further than a telegram from the senior officer at Queenstown, to the effect that a chief stoker and a second-class stoker were seriously burnt by an explosion of coal-gas in one of the 1445 bunkers of the Howe last Friday afternoon, and that an inquiry had been ordered. Until this inquiry is completed, it is impossible to state the cause of the explosion.
