§ MR. JASPER TULLY (Leitrim, S.)I beg to ask the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether the attention of the Commissioners of Chelsea Hospital has been directed to the case of a Crimean veteran, Michael Connaughton, now residing at Ballintubber, County Roscommon, who served in the Crimean War and Indian Mutiny, was wounded at Inkerman, and holds three war medals, and was discharged on a pension of 9d. a day; and whether, as this pension is now insufficient for his support, he will recommend that he be granted a special campaign pension?
MR. POWELL - WILLIAMSThe special campaign pension is only granted to men who are not already pensioners for army service, as Michael Connaughton has been since 1867.
