HC Deb 06 August 1897 vol 52 c517
MR. MACALEESE

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he is aware that John White, an evicted tenant, of Dernasell, County Monaghan, was committed to Dundalk gaol, in October last, for alleged trespass, and is still untried; whether he will soon be brought to trial or released; and is it in harmony with British law that a subject of the Crown should be kept eight months in prison without trial?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

I replied to a similar Question addressed to me by the hon. Member on the 27th ult., and to that reply I have nothing to add.
