HC Deb 06 August 1897 vol 52 c515
MR. HERBERT ROBERTS (Denbighshire, W.)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether he can give the House any information as to the steps taken during the past year by the Commissioners of Woods and Forests with regard to the afforestation of Crown lands in North Wales?

* MR. HANBURY

No further steps have been taken during the past year with regard to the afforestation of Crown lands in North Wales for the reasons stated in the Report of the Commissioners of Woods for 1896 (page 8). But the Commissioner in charge of the Crown lands in Wales is in correspondence with an owner of land and of common rights over a Crown waste in Merioneth, with a view to making some arrangement, if practicable, for planting a part of the waste lands there.
