HC Deb 12 April 1897 vol 48 c954
MR. PATRICK O'BRIEN

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether the proposed Treaty on the Venezuelan Boundaries has been agreed to by the United States Government; and, if not, what position is the question in at present; and, what further action does Her Majesty's Government intend to take in the matter?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

The Treaty between Great Britain and Venezuela was signed on February 2. Its main provisions had been previously discussed and agreed upon by the Government of the United States. It has been recently confirmed by the Venezuelan Congress, and the exchange of the ratification will shortly be effected.
