HC Deb 09 April 1897 vol 48 c842
MR. J. P. FARRELL

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the Canals and Navigable Rivers (Ireland) Amendment Bill, at present before the House; and whether, in view of his promise to favourably consider any Measure that would enable the Royal Canal Harbour at Longford to be enclosed, so as to prevent further loss of human life there, he will recommend the House to accept that Bill?

MR HANBURY

The Bill, in question, which was only issued on the 5th inst., is receiving consideration, and the Government will be prepared to state their views on it before the date fixed for Second Reading.
