HC Deb 08 May 1896 vol 40 c879
MR. EDWARD MOON (St. Pancras, N.)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Admiralty, whether, having regard to the provision made by various Foreign Powers of submarine torpedo boats, it is proposed to supply any for the defence of the United Kingdom?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE ADMIRALTY (Mr. G. J. GOSCHEN, St. George's,) Hanover Square

We are fully acquainted with what is being done abroad in regard to submarine torpedo boats. I must ask the House to excuse me from the necessity of disclosing the policy of her Majesty's Government on the subject.
