HC Deb 04 March 1896 vol 38 c179

Motion made that this Bill be read a Second time.

THE SECRETARY TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. T. W. RUSSELL,) Tyrone, S.

said, that the Government did not object to the Second reading. Should the Bill reach the Committee stage, however, he would have to submit one or two drafting Amendments. The purpose of the Measure was to remedy a mistake that was alleged to have occurred in fixing the date for local elections.

MR. H. BYRON REED (Bradford, E.)

objected.

MR. H. C. F. LUTTRELL (Devon, Tavistock)

, appealed to the hon. Member to withdraw his opposition. The Bill dealt simply with a technical detail.

Bill read 2a, and committed for To-morrow.
