had given notice of the following: To ask the First Lord of the Treasury, whether the Government propose to appoint a Select Committee to resume the Inquiry (which was cut short by the dissolution of Parliament) into distress arising from want of employment?

MR. WILLIAM ALLEN (Newcastle-under-Lyme)

had put down the following question: To ask the First Lord of the Treasury, whether he will carry out the recommendation of the Committee on Distress from Want of Employment that sat last year, that another Committee should be appointed in this Parliament to renew the Inquiry?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

said, if the hon. Members would be good enough to put their questions down for next Thursday he would give them a definite reply.
