HC Deb 13 February 1896 vol 37 c239
MR. J. A. PEASE

On behalf of the hon. Member for East Northampton (Mr. F. A. CHANNING), I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury, whether a Special Commission to inquire further into the best means of making provision for the aged poor, as recommended in one of the Reports of the Royal Commission last year, has already been appointed, or, if not already appointed, when it will be?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

It is the intention of the Government to appoint a small committee of experts to deal with the subject of making provision for the aged poor, as recommended by the Commission last year. A small committee or commission has not yet been appointed, but it will be appointed without any undue delay.
