HC Deb 14 August 1896 vol 44 c839
MR. J. P. FARRELL

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland is he aware that there was a quarrel on the public street of Swanlinton, county Cavan, on 3rd August, in consequence of which a constable arrested a man whom his sergeant directed him to release from custody; what was the reason for the sergeant's interference in this case more than any other arrest made by the police; and are any further proceedings to be taken?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

said he had no information to give, and the answer would be forwarded to the hon. Member later.
