HC Deb 14 August 1896 vol 44 c839
MR. J. P. FARRELL

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that a number of tenants on the Finlay Estate, near Bawnboy, county Cavan, signed agreements to purchase their holdings six years ago, regularly paying the interest since; whether these tenants have now been informed that, unless the whole of the tenants sign agreements, the sale will not be carried through; whether they will get any credit for the amount already paid, and, if not, why; and what is the ground for the refusal to carry out the sale?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

said he had no information to give, and the answer would be forwarded to the hon. Member later.
