FARRELLI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, if he has received a copy of a Resolution unanimously adopted at a meeting of the Oldcastle Board of Guardians at their meeting on 3rd February 1896, asking Her Majesty's Government to institute a Board of Agriculture for Ireland, with powers to deal with the various agricultural interests from which the majority of the Irish people derive their subsistence; and, what action will the Government take?
§ *MR. GERALD BALFOURA copy of the Resolution referred to has been received. The intention of the Government to establish a Board of Agriculture in Ireland was announced in the Queen's Speech at the opening of the present Session of Parliament. The Bill on the subject is nearly ready, but whether it will be possible to introduce it in the present Session, must depend upon the state of Public Business.
