SNAPEI beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, as an example to the municipal and county constabulary authorities throughout the country, arrangements can be made to promote the comfort of the Metropolitan Police by supplying them with lighter clothing during the hot summer months?
§ MR. ASQUITHThis question has been frequently considered, and, as I stated on April 12, 1894, the opinion of the Commissioner and of the Chief Surgeon of the Police is adverse to the proposal. I will obtain a fresh Report on the subject.
