§ MR. GILHOOLY (Cork County, W.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether, in view of the fact that the rateable qualification of a Poor Law Guardian in Ireland has been considerably reduced, he will consider the advisability of reducing the rateable qualification of a member of a Dispensary Committee?
MR. J. MORLEYUnder Section 7 of the Poor Relief (Ireland) Act, 1851, elective members of Dispensary Committees must be liable to pay rates in respect of property of the annual value of £30 at least. I certainly think it anomalous that the qualification of the elective members of these Committees should be fixed at £30, while that of the Guardians, who are ex-officio members, is considerably lower; but legislation would be necessary to deal with the matter.
