HC Deb 26 April 1895 vol 32 cc1737-8
MR. J. CALDWELL (Mid Lanark)

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland when he hopes to introduce the Bill giving power to County Councils and to Parish Councils in Scotland to acquire land for workmen's dwelling houses; whether he will give that Bill precedence over the Local Government (Scotland) Bill; and, when he proposes to introduce a measure to abolish the Standing Joint Committee in counties in Scotland?

*THE LORD ADVOCATE (in the absence of Sir GEORGE TREVELYAN)

The Secretary for Scotland hopes to introduce the Bill for giving power to County Councils and to Parish Councils in Scotland to acquire land for workmen's dwelling houses. He, has no present intention of giving the Bill precedence over the Local Government (Scotland) Bill, or of introducing a measure to abolish the Standing Joint Committee in counties in Scotland.
