HC Deb 07 May 1894 vol 24 c475
MR. FORWOOD

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he has yet considered the Report of Major-General Carey upon the extension of the city boundaries at Liverpool; and, if so, how soon he will be in a position to announce the result?

MR. SHAW-LEFEVRE

The Report of General Carey on his second inquiry was received by the Local Government Board a few days ago. It deals with a most important subject, and needs very careful consideration. As soon as a decision is arrived at it will be communicated to the Corporation of Liverpool.

MR. FORWOOD

Is it not a fact that the 14th of May is the latest day on which a Provisional Order can be introduced? Will the Order for the extension of the boundaries be made before that day?

MR. SHAW-LEFEVRE

replied that the 14th of May was the last day, but he could hardly hope that the Order would be completed by that day. The two things must stand together.
