HC Deb 14 June 1894 vol 25 c1084
MR. PAUL (Edinburgh, S.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether the War Office declines to sanction the purchase of mineral oil with a flash point of less than 103 degrees; and what is the reason for fixing that limit?

*MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

Mineral oil is not accepted for barrack supplies with a lower flashing point than 105 degrees Fahr. That standard was adopted with a view to safety on the advice of the War Department chemist.
