HC Deb 15 February 1894 vol 21 c449
MR HENNIKER BEATON (Canterbury)

I beg to ask the Postmaster General if he will state the nature of the obstacle to the transmission by post, as postcards, of any cards of the prescribed size bearing an adhesive halfpenny stamp; and whether such obstacle arises from the terms of the contract made with the firm which manufactures Post Office stationery; and, if so, whether any attempt has been made to arrange a compromise with that firm, or whether a compromise can be arranged so as to allow of the concession to the public of the boon in question?

THE POSTMASTER GENERAL (Mr. A. MORLEY,) Nottingham, E.

I can only refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave on this subject to a question put to me on the 22nd of December last. The contract was made by the Treasury under the late Government, and the matter, is, therefore, within the province of that Department.
