HC Deb 15 February 1894 vol 21 c475
MR. HALLEY STEWART

On behalf of the hon. Member for the North-wich Division of Cheshire, I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will consider the advisability of extending the proposed legislation, which would give the Secretary of State power to deal with the unreasonably long hours of labour in dangerous trades, and will make it apply to all trades involving continuous day and night work, in which the hours of labour shall seem to him to be of unreasonable and harmful length?

MR. ASQUITH

I am not now in a position to make any definite statement on the subject of proposed legislation; but I can assure my hon. Friend that the points he refers to will be carefully considered.
